ABOUT THE ROLE

The National Warehouse Manager role is essential for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of warehouses across multiple locations. This position plays a crucial role in optimizing warehouse operations, supporting the Chief Operations Officer in driving performance excellence through people development and compliance measures. The main goal is to create a competitive advantage in the distribution channel while providing an unparalleled customer experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

Functional Responsibilities – Leadership

As a member of the leadership team the position is responsible for achievement of the KPI’s relative to:

Tasks

  • Warehouse performance to KPI’s by location
  • Housekeeping standards across the distribution network
  • Safety Leadership, role modelling and driving continuous improvement of the safety standards across the warehouses nationally
  • Development and embedding minimum levels of discipline and consistency of process
  • Ensure agreed national processes are followed and embedded in state warehouse
  • Providing leadership and continual development of the warehouse leadership group
  • Preparation and implementation of budgets and expense control

KPI:

Safety Leadership

The position is required lead the continual improvement of safety performance across the warehouse network, this includes:

Tasks

  • Development and Implementation of Warehouse safety improvement plan per warehouse with each Warehouse Manager
  • Development and implementation of safety improvement KPI’s
  • Drive the culture that safety is a habit to be formed and normalised
  • Support the implementation of Chain of Responsibility actions.

Operations Integrity Program

The position is responsible for the development of the Warehouse Operational Integrity Program of work. This includes:

Tasks

  • Development of Warehouse Operational Integrity Scoreboard (safety, volume+operational processes, cost, CoR)
  • Development, warehouse operating procedures (consulting state peers to ensure consistency and where necessary localised nuances are included).
  • Development and implementation of Warehouse Dashboard Screens displaying warehouse results on daily basis
  • Implementation of assessment (self) and independent audit regime

KPI: Stock Integrity of 98%, DIFOT 98% Safety TRIFR (TBA)

Warehouse Reporting

The position is required to produce the daily and monthly warehouse operational integrity reporting this includes:

Tasks

  • Daily Warehouse Dashboard
  • Operational Integrity Report – Weekly
  • Fortnightly Franchise Reporting
  • Monthly includes – concern portal, picking efficiency, driver breakages graph

KPI: 100% On Time Reporting

Warehouse Development Program

The position is responsible for the development of the warehouse development program. This includes:

Tasks

  • Preparation in partnership with the Warehouse Leaders a 2 month rolling development program for each warehouse. This is to include competency program for all standard procedures, this includes picking, receiving, stock integrity tasks, strapping, loading, forklift driving (use the Licence to Move Product program)

Projects

The position is required to develop and manage a suite of continuous improvement projects which drive the warehouse performance.

Tasks

  • Warehouse leaders to advise you of their operating inefficiencies and the programs they seek for improvement
  • Review of manual handling and tools to eliminate manual handling risks
  • Review breakages – root cause work with warehouse leaders on improvement program.

KPI: Projects Delivered to Plan and On Budget

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

To be eligible for this opportunity, you will need to have the following skills and attributes:

  • Proven experience in leading multi-site warehouse operations and achieving KPIs
  • Demonstrated ability in budget preparation, expense control, and process consistency
  • Experience in developing and implementing safety improvement plans and key performance indicators
  • Proficiency in driving operational integrity programs and ensuring stock integrity and Delivery In Full On Time (DIFOT) targets are met
  • Competency in developing warehouse operational procedures, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms
  • Project management experience in identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to provide guidance and development to warehouse leadership teams
  • Ability to drive a culture of safety, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction throughout the warehouse network.
