Overview

Bastian respects your right to privacy and is committed to safeguarding the privacy of our clients, candidates and website visitors. We comply with the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

This Privacy Policy sets out how we collect, store, use and disclose your personal information.

You are not required to provide any personal information to view the public pages of our website. However, where you provide your personal information – such as to apply for a job through our portal or via email, contact us generally, reach out to a named individual or register with us – this Privacy Policy will govern how we collect, use and process your provided information.

Since it is not our intention to collect personal information from children, no child specific policy is described.

Changes to our privacy policy

We may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. Please check back from time to time to review our Privacy Policy. Any changes to our Privacy Policy will take effect from the date the changes are published on our website. Continued use of this website or our services after this time will constitute your acceptance of the updated terms of the Privacy Policy.

Collection, use and storage of personal information.

We may collect personal information from you in a variety of ways, including when you interact with us electronically or in person and when you access our website.

We may collect additional information at other times, including but not limited to, when you provide feedback, when you provide information about your personal or business affairs, change your email preferences, respond to surveys and/or promotions, or communicate with us.

 Candidates

We may collect the following information:

  • Name and job title
  • Contact information including email address and telephone number
  • Demographic information such as postcode, preferences, salary and interests
  • Other information relevant helping you find job opportunities (such as information contained in your CV)

We require this information to understand your needs and provide services to you service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • Finding you relevant job opportunities.
  • Forwarding your CV (after discussing it with you and gaining your consent) to clients whom we both feel may be interested in your services.
  • To inform you of job opportunities we believe will be of interest to you.
  • Internal record keeping

From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you to keep in touch with you. We may contact you by email, phone or post.

We may from time to time need to disclose personal information to comply with a legal requirement, such as a law, regulation, court order, subpoena, warrant, in the course of a legal proceeding or in response to a law enforcement agency request.

You can submit your CV to us via the website or by direct email. Your CV and the personal information you provide will be stored in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) personal information. Only authorised personnel who work for Bastian Consulting International will have access to this CRM personal information. Our retained clients will have access to limited information on a project basis to the extent consented by you and for the purposes of performing our services.

If you take up contract work, you will need to input your timesheet personal information online, which we will process so we can invoice employers and pay you. We will store the timesheet personal information in our cloud storage space (SharePoint).

Employers

We may collect, after gaining your consent, the following information:

  • name and job title
  • contact information including email address and telephone number
  • information about the company you work for (address, telephone number, customer data base etc)
  • demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests
  • other information relevant to providing you and your company with our recruitment services

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • Finding you relevant candidates.
  • To inform you of good candidates we believe will be of interest to you and when they become available.
  • Internal record keeping.
  • From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you to keep in touch with you. We may contact you by email, phone or mail.
  • We may also release information relating to you to regulatory or law enforcement authorities.

We will store this information in our CRM data base, as discussed in section 2.1 above.

Collection of personal information from third parties

We may collect or receive your personal information in various ways, including through the likes of third party platforms or public domain sources.

Additionally, we may also collect other personal information you provide while interacting with us.

If we obtain your personal information from a third party and it is impractical to seek consent before using your personal information and contacting you, we will provide you with an opportunity at the first time of contact to decline to receive further direct marketing communications.

How long we will store your personal information

We will store your personal information in our data base for the time period allowed for under the Privacy Act. The purpose for this will be to keep in touch with you and your situation, and update our records (including as requested in writing by you). If you wish, we will permanently and safely delete your personal information. If you want us to delete your personal information, you may request for us to do this in writing and your personal information will be permanently deleted from our data base. The removal of all personal information will result in Bastian Consulting International no longer being able to provide services to you.

How we may disclose your personal information

We do not and will not sell your personal information.

We may disclose your personal information to any of our employees, clients, potential candidates, officers, insurers, professional advisers, agents, suppliers, subcontractors or users for the purposes of performing our services, including:

  1. putting candidates in touch with potential employers; or
  2. putting clients in touch with candidates.

We will only do this to the extent it is reasonably necessary to enable you to use and access our website or to perform our services.

We may from time to time need to disclose personal information to comply with our legal obligations.

We may also use your personal information to protect the copyright, trademarks, legal rights, property or safety of Bastian, https://bconsult.io/, our customers or third parties.

Information that we collect may from time to time is stored, processed in or transferred between parties located in Australia.

If there is a change of control in our business or a sale or transfer of business assets, we reserve the right to transfer (to the extent we are legally able to) our user personal data bases, together with any personal information and non-personal information contained in those data bases. This information may be disclosed to a potential purchaser under an agreement to maintain confidentiality. We would seek to only disclose information in good faith and where required by any of the above circumstances.

By providing us with personal information, you consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy and the types of disclosure covered by this Privacy Policy. Where we disclose your personal information to third parties, we will request that the third party follow this policy regarding handling your personal information.

How we may use your personal information

We may use personal information collected from you to provide you with information, updates and services. We may also make you aware of new and additional services and opportunities available to you. We may use your personal information to improve our services and better understand your needs.

We may also use your personal information to contact you about our services, including for marketing purposes. You can opt out of receiving marketing material at any time.

Job alerts/ Email Newsletter

To subscribe to job alerts and newsletter emails, you will be required to provide your email address. We will use your email address to keep you informed of the latest jobs relevant to your skills and/or provide you with industry news via job alerts. If you no longer wish to receive this information, you can email us directly to unsubscribe at contact@bconsult.io.

If you choose to join our email newsletter, the email address that you submit to us will be forwarded to MailChimp who provide us with email marketing services. MailChimp is a third party personal information processor.

Your email address will remain within MailChimp’s data base for as long as we continue to use MailChimp’s services for email marketing to yourself or until you specifically request removal from the list. You can do this by unsubscribing via directly emailing us and requesting removal. When requesting removal via email, please send your email to us at contact@bconsult.io using the email account that is subscribed to the mailing list.

While your email address remains within the MailChimp database, you will receive periodic newsletter-style emails from us.

 Curriculum vitae (‘CV’)

We provide you with the option of submitting your CV via our website or by sending your CV via email to one of our consultants. You can do this to apply for advertised roles or to be considered by our recruitment consultants for prospective roles. Your CV will be stored in our database, and will be accessible by our recruitment consultants. You can update your CV at any time, simply by following the same procedure to submit a new CV. If you require us to delete your CV, please email us at contact@bconsult.io.

Securing your personal information

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent the loss, misuse, alteration or unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure information and protect it from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification and disclosure of your personal information. All the personal information you provide is stored on secure servers and our servers undergo regular malware scanning. Our website is SSL certified. This means that when you upload your CV via our website, the personal information you provide is encrypted.

The transmission and exchange of information is carried out at your own risk. We cannot guarantee the security of any information that you transmit to or receive from us.

Google Analytics stores information about what pages you visit whilst on our website, how long you are on the site, how you got here and what you click on. This Analytics personal information is collected via a JavaScript tag in the pages of our site and is not tied to personally identifiable information. We therefore do not collect or store your personal information (e.g., your name or address) so this information cannot be used to identify who you are.
