Lead and manage the Distribution Centre and its associated warehouse and freight operations with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. RESPONSBILITIES

Site Logistics Operations

  • Accountable for site servicing the NSW & National network, managing a team of 3 Direct Reports and 42 Indirect Reports.
  • Relentlessly promote a safe system of operation in the workplace with a goal of Zero Harm and ensure all hazards, incidents, accidents, injuries and near misses are reported accurately
  • Develop an annual budget, provide forecast inputs and manage logistics activity to budget/forecast.
  • Manage industrial agreements to achieve appropriate commercial and performance outcomes and flexibility for future Supply Chain changes.
  • Lead the organisation and execution of receipt, storage and despatch of goods within NSW, to other States and Export for Interior Systems.
  • Collaborate with team and stakeholders to develop ideas, prioritise initiatives and implement solutions to improve safety, service, people and costs
  • Drive all major investigations regarding customer complaints and safety incidents to ensure they are addressed immediately
  • Maintain high standards in housekeeping, safety, inventory management and customer service
  • Identify, implement, and monitor appropriate KPIs and ensure robust measurement and reporting in place to communicate performance and progress
  • Engage regularly with stakeholders in sales, manufacturing, planning and customer service to ensure clear line of sight on plans, schedules and events to enable a responsive outcome.
  • Drive awareness of, and compliance to, all legislation that impacts warehouse and transport environments including Workers Compensation, OH&S and COR.
  • Manage inventory accuracy via a clear storage layout and solution, a streamlined handover process between manufacturing and storage, regular stock counting and control of goods despatch process.
  • Manage imported stock and share visibility of its storage and days on hand with relevant stakeholders.
  • Maximise the utilisation of all outbound trailers, ensure all loads are appropriately restrained and trucks are loaded correctly.
  • Support and deliver the strategic business vision through own or team contribution.

People Development & Management

  • Manage industrial relations, operational disputes, etc. to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Develop a good working culture that embraces standard operating procedure compliance, continuous improvement, idea generation, innovation and collaboration.
  • Build and maintain an exceptional team culture by creating a high-performance team who are accountable for all their actions as well as embrace standardisation and continuous improvement.
  • Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
  • Conduct daily team briefings to ensure team have clear visibility on achievements, activity for the day and any safety requirements in addition to being able to provide frequent feedback.
  • Managing all employee issues including performance management, employee safety and team building.
  • Strong understanding and ability to work within a unionised work environment and manage complex ER/IR matters.
  • Recognise and reward superior performance standards and achievements.

Financial accountabilities & levels of authority:

  • Site logistics costs and associated reporting.
  • Budget and cost management.
  • Approval of payments to service providers, contractors and vendors within LOA’s.
  • Create and manage CAPEX and OPEX requirements with appropriate approval.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

To be eligible for this opportunity, you will need to have the following skills and attributes:

  • 7+ years in a similar role with direct logistics operational experience.
  • Demonstratable delivery of successful tactical Logistics improvements.
  • Active, hands-on execution approach.
  • Experience in delivering changes within a Logistics environment.
  • Proven high quality leadership skill.
  • Capable of managing a diverse team with varying levels of experience.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships internally and externally.
  • Exceptional planning and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong commercial and analytical acumen.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Strong collaboration skills and demonstrates teamwork ethos.
  • Open and transparent communicator.
  • Capable of balancing people management and performance outcomes.

  • Computer literate with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and warehouse management systems.
  • Experience with a Warehouse Management System or Transport Management System is preferred.
  • Resilient; anticipates and overcomes obstacles.
