The Program Director Role

As Program Director, you will take ownership of complex transformation programs, ensuring delivery of strategic business improvement, operational excellence, and EBIT shift for clients. You will lead cross-functional teams through all phases of program delivery, from strategy and design to implementation, while building reusable program assets and strengthening the organisation’s program management capability.

This role sits at the intersection of consulting leadership, operational insight, and business development. You will combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, mentoring teams, engaging senior stakeholders, and ensuring that every program delivers measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities as Program Director

Program Leadership & Delivery:

Lead and manage large-scale supply chain transformation programs across multiple industries.

Develop program structures, workstreams, governance frameworks, and schedules aligned with methodology and client objectives.

Mitigate program risks and manage resources to ensure programs are delivered on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.

Collaborate with technical experts in DC design, transport, property development, IT, and operational management to deliver informed, practical solutions.

Conduct complex analysis and modelling using proprietary tools to support program outcomes.

Contribute to the ongoing development of the firm’s Program Management Toolkit, enhancing methodologies and reusable assets.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement:

Establish and maintain strategic relationships with senior client stakeholders, ensuring alignment with client goals.

Support client leads in managing expectations, resolving issues, and maximising client satisfaction.

Lead preparation of high-quality presentations, proposals, tenders, and governance reporting.

Contribute to thought leadership in supply chain transformation and operational excellence.

People Leadership & Culture:

Recruit, retain, and develop high-performing teams.

Build team capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and embedding performance metrics.

Create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, aligning team structure with strategic business objectives.

Financial & Operational Management:

Oversee program budgets, forecasting, invoicing, and financial performance.

Analyse trends and contribute recommendations for improved business outcomes.

Ensure operational compliance, safety, and risk management across all projects.

Business Development & Market Growth:

Contribute to new business acquisition, client presentations, proposal submissions, and industry engagement.

Support the development of pricing models, marketing strategies, and public relations initiatives.

What We’re Looking For in a Program Director:

Proven experience as a Senior Program Manager or Program Director leading multiple supply chain transformation programs.

Strong understanding of program management methodologies, tools, and lifecycle management.

Experience in retail, FMCG, or industrial product industries preferred.

Expertise in business case development, including NPV and IRR analysis.

Advanced problem-solving and business analysis skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Strong communication skills to engage executives, operations, and technical experts.

Commitment to learning and improving processes, personally and for client outcomes.

Willingness to travel to client sites across Australia as required.

Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office tools.
