We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Head of Business Development to lead the growth and expansion of the pharmaceutical cold-chain vertical in Singapore, a critical hub for life sciences, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing in the Asia-Pacific region. This senior leadership role is responsible for defining and executing the go-to-market strategy for pharmaceutical manufacturers, biotechnology firms, distributors, and clinical trial service providers that require high-performance temperature-controlled storage and logistics solutions, including ultracold (-70 °C) environments.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in accelerating revenue growth, strengthening long-term client partnerships, and positioning the business as a trusted, compliant, and sustainability-led provider of premium pharmaceutical cold-chain solutions. This role requires a strong blend of commercial acumen, strategic thinking, industry knowledge, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to deliver complex, high-value solutions.

Head of Business Development – Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

You will define, own, and execute the business development strategy for the pharmaceutical cold-chain vertical, with a clear focus on priority market segments such as biologics, vaccines, cell and gene therapies, clinical research organisations (CROs), and contract development and manufacturing organisations (CDMOs). You will assess market dynamics and customer needs to identify high-potential growth opportunities, including new clients, service offerings, and potential geographic expansion within the region.

A core part of the role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with senior decision-makers across pharmaceutical, biotech, logistics, regulatory, and industry bodies, positioning the organisation as a partner of choice for mission-critical cold-chain requirements.

Business Growth & Client Acquisition

You will lead the full commercial lifecycle, from pipeline development and opportunity qualification through to contract negotiation, deal closure, and account expansion. This includes driving sustainable revenue growth, improving profitability, and increasing market share within the pharmaceutical cold-chain sector.

You will oversee key accounts to ensure seamless onboarding, high service levels, long-term retention, and the identification of upsell and cross-sell opportunities. The role also involves developing and managing budgets, setting commercial KPIs, tracking performance, and providing clear, data-driven reporting to senior leadership. You will guide the development of client proposals, presentations, and thought-leadership materials that clearly articulate value, compliance, reliability, and sustainability.

Solution Design & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Working closely with operations, engineering, quality, and sustainability teams, you will help design and deliver tailored cold-chain solutions that meet stringent regulatory, quality, and risk-management requirements. You will translate complex client needs into operational and technical specifications, covering areas such as temperature monitoring, redundancy and backup systems, validation processes, and energy-efficient storage design.

A strong emphasis will be placed on embedding sustainability and decarbonisation initiatives into both proposals and ongoing service delivery, aligning client objectives with environmental performance and long-term resilience.

Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership

You will continuously monitor developments in pharmaceutical cold-chain logistics, including regulatory changes, emerging technologies, evolving customer expectations, and competitor activity. You will develop market insights and business cases to support strategic investment and growth decisions. Acting as a senior ambassador for the business, you will represent the organisation at industry events, conferences, and client forums.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 10+ years’ experience in business development, strategic sales, or key account management within pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, life-sciences logistics, or cold-chain infrastructure
  • Demonstrated success in growing B2B revenue, building strategic partnerships, and managing complex, high-value deals
  • Strong understanding of temperature-controlled logistics, including ultracold storage for biologics, vaccines, and cell and gene therapies
  • Knowledge of GDP and GMP compliance standards is highly desirable
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and cross-functional leadership capabilities
  • Commercially driven, analytical, and results-oriented, with a strong sustainability mindset
