ABOUT THE ROLE

The Supply Chain and Logistics function plays a critical role in enabling the organization to reach its maximum potential by enhancing the delivery of value through supply chain, logistics, and digital procurement processes via performance enhancement efforts. As the Strategic Purchasing & Sourcing Specialist, you will lead a centralised team of buyers and drive the transformation of sourcing and procurement operations to achieve excellence.  This involves innovating solutions to streamline procurement processes, eliminating bottlenecks, and advancing e-procurement practices.

RESPONSBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

Strategic Sourcing

  • Oversee purchase Orders from order placement to payment, ensuring timely supply of goods and services
  • Bring forward and implement best in class purchasing and sourcing strategies to elevate the procurement team
  • Drive should-cost modelling to enable the procurement function to drive better negotiations
  • Provide the procurement function with benchmark and data analysis across various categories
  • Reduce and/or contain costs and manage risk to the business within the procurement scope
  • When required, conduct sourcing activities to ensure best price from best supplier to ensure timely supply of goods & services
  • Achieve overall results in line with Procurement measurements; Active Vendors; Spend via Catalogue; Spend without PO and benefits
  • Support the implementation of new contractual arrangements into the systems and across the business
  • Ensure compliance to contractual commitments
  • Manage low value and non-contractual spend to achieve efficiencies and value for money
  • Lead communications between contract specialists and buying team to ensure demand expectations and volumes are managed to ensure smooth running of operations
  • Ensure P2P processes at site level are maintained, communicated, implemented and fully utilised in accordance with approved and documented procedures and guidelines
  • Working with logistics, warehouse and stores to ensure successful management of purchasing volume and purchase orders and timely delivery of goods and services
  • Work closely with Accounts Payable team to ensure successful management of invoicing against purchase orders.
  • Manage Supplier performance
  • Utilisation of IMS where applicable

Purchasing

  • Manage Purchase Orders from order placement to payment, ensuring timely supply of goods and services
  • Reduce and/or contain costs and manage risk to the business within the procurement scope
  • Manage low value and non-contractual spend to achieve efficiencies and value for money
  • Support shutdown and planned maintenance activities in relation to required purchasing planning and execution
  • Ensure P2P processes at site level are maintained, communicated, implemented and fully utilised in accordance with approved and documented procedures and guidelines
  • Work seamlessly with extended Sourcing and Contract Execution team and Accounts Payable function to ensure seamless workflow of supply of goods and services and compliance to purchasing process and system requirements
  • Expediting and stepping into cover Buyer role as and when required to ensure “customer first” approach

Digital Procurement Strategy & Improvement

  • Support the digital transformation of current systems and processes in Procurement to drive best practice e-procurement and digital procurement initiatives
  • Build and maintain an efficient high performing centralised buyer model
  • Set-up procure to pay processes to be streamlined and integrated with supply chain and entire business
  • Collate information in relation to procurement activities and apply innovative thinking to build, design and implement solutions to optimise procure to pay processes, standards and costs
  • Compile and interpret procurement performance metrics; analyse historical data to ascertain anomalies or opportunities
  • Gather information and pain points from key stakeholders to identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Drive strategic procurement capability to become best-in-class procurement function in line with the broader Supply Chain & Logistics strategy
  • Support the Supply Chain & Logistics team to build presentations, business cases and reporting for management

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

To be eligible for this opportunity, you will need to have the following skills and attributes:

  • 6+ years’ experience in procurement
  • Strong understanding of sourcing and procure to pay processes
  • Strong understanding of digital and e-procurement
  • Ability to take best in class practices and develop/implement strategy
  • Experience with SAP and COUPA is favourable
  • Highly proficient in MS Office suite of products
  • Ability to lead workstreams and process improvement for procurement transformation
  • Tertiary qualified in a technical or commercial discipline
