Actively engaged in community support, it donates time and products to various causes, including educational programs and environmental initiatives. The company’s enduring popularity is reflected in the success of its gardening guide, first written in 1895, now recognised as a best-selling gardening book in both Australia and New Zealand.

They are currently seeking a Quality Manager based in Southwest Sydney.

About the Role

The ANZ Quality Manager, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, translates the Supply Chain strategy into imperatives for the quality team to deliver on.  This role articulates and drives strategies and execution for:

  • Quality strategy and policies in alignment with the strategy.
  • Quality Assurance, ensuring licenses to operate in the quality space and embedding systems to ensure quality of both internal and external supply sources.
  • Quality risk and performance management, ensuring the premium nature of the product is supported by robust quality performance and risk management.
  • NPD execution, enabling quality parameters embedding in change management and particularly on new products.
  • Continuous improvement of the company’s robust systems to deliver premium quality performance.

To be successful the ANZ Quality Manager must effectively operate as a growth leader, people leader and delivery leader to support the ambitions of the business, fostering new and existing partnerships both locally and globally, working closely with both Supply Chain peers and the rest of the Senior Leadership team.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Quality strategy, policy, and culture:
  • Definition of the Quality policy & implement the Quality strategy & framework.
  • Elevation of the visibility & importance of quality within the business at all organisational levels.
  • Empowerment of all employees to be quality agents. Define & review the Quality KPIs, communicating performance to the business.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensuring systems are in place to monitor compliance of all products to specification and identification of product improvements.
  • Lead supplier audits and act as management representative for compliance audits.
  • Oversee compliance with relevant internal and external regulatory and quality compliance frameworks.
  • Quality risk and performance management:
  • Embed pro-active assessments to identify risk.
  • Lead crisis management responses.
  • Support troubleshooting activities to improve the quality performance.
  • People management:
  • Provide clear direction to quality team to deliver performance and strategy goals as well as develop their competencies.

Skills, Experience, & Qualifications

To be eligible for this opportunity, you will need to have the following skills and attributes:

  • Experience in a Quality role with management experience and/or experience in operations management.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Science or Engineering preferred.
  • The ability to supervise and lead a team of quality professionals.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to identify process improvements & analyse trend data.
  • Sound problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of products.
  • AP knowledge preferred.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to articulate needs & influence people from all areas of the business from factory floor personnel to business leaders.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Delivery of training with competency development.
  • Quality auditing
  • Valid Driver’s Licence as some local & international travel may be required.
  • Expected to exercise good business judgement. Actions and decisions must be consistent with company values & behaviours, and enacted business and quality strategy.

Relationships are to be maintained with others by helping people feel valued, appreciated, and included.   • This position must liaise closely with 4 key internal groups: (i) Site Managers (Mt Druitt & Wyee) (ii) Functional managers and employees (Sales, Marketing R&D & Procurement) (iii) Consumer Experience (iv) Leadership Team
  • Understands who the customer (supplier & consumer) is and their needs; responds to these needs in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Assist the business through standardise problem-solving and non-conformance processes, maintaining a flexible, responsive approach to requests and situations.
