Our client is one of NZ’s largest and renown alcohol beverage company. They produce, market, sell and distribute many of the region’s favourite drinks, including beer, cider, wine, spirits, ready-to-drink products.

Their beers include New Zealand’s best-loved local brands, as well as international favourites.  They have an enviable portfolio of wine brands including and are proud to distribute the most popular spirits across every category.

They also operate several vibrant venues including small breweries and restaurants locally. And recently acquired an iconic coffee brand into the group, to complement their range and cater to more occasions.

The Role

The purpose of this role is the implementation and execution of the Asset care strategy across the Auckland site through implementation of best practice reliability engineering capability & systems.

To do this you will lead a team of 40-50 Engineers to provide best practice support and customer service across manufacturing and support the site in achieving targets via maximising / optimising machine uptime and utilisation with maintenance costs and the delivery of the capital plan.


  • Implementation and execution of Asset Care Tracc across the site
  • Compliance with Engineering standards, CMMS, systems & protocols
  • Implement MEX broad plan for engineering department
  • Lead engineering team to provide best practice support and maintenance excellence service across manufacturing
  • Support site in achieving BBS / BBP targets e.g., OEE, extract waste and utilities by maximising / optimising machine uptime and utilisation with best practise maintenance costs
  • Compliance with regulations / Implementation of safe engineering work practices
  • Engineering Team Near miss reporting >12 per MTI
  • Compliance with guidelines contractor management
  • Engineering responsibilities for NPD delivered DIFOTQ
  • Site capital plans (long and short term) DIFOTQ
  • Ensure effective facilities and stores management
  • Ensure reliable supply of utilities and wastewater treatment
  • Responsible for the delivery of teamwork TRACC/engagement plans
  • Active member of the site leadership team
  • Deliver engineering annual budget
  • Deliver the drive and sustain kpi’s as per the FPR
  • Create, develop, and lead high performing teams and champion a high growth culture
  • Actively find new ways to learn and grow and be challenged through formal and self-directed learning
  • Prioritise safety and promote the company’s safety culture
  • Role model the company’s Leadership Principles, and empower others within your team to do so
  • Lead and proactively participate in the company Achievement Cycle and ensure mandatory capability programs are completed by team
  • Role model and drive accountability within teams to embed our SAP system & new processes, ensuring data quality outcomes and new reporting platforms are leveraged

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • Engineering degree preferred.
  • Regulatory and legal compliance knowledge and understanding the implications for the business
  • A broad, in-depth understanding of engineering, engineering trends, key suppliers and contractors
  • Understanding of lean Manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of Engineering reliability principles and systems
  • Change management – ability to think, communicate and influence change within the asset care function.
  • Strong functional/technical capability
  • Effective management, leadership, mentoring and coordination of activities within the Asset Care function.
  • Solid coaching capabilities to create and nurture effective relationships within engineering function
  • An ability to consistently achieve results and deliver on promises (do what they say they will)
  • Good interpersonal skills and stakeholder management abilities required to build the necessary relationships with peers, operations, and maintenance teams.
  • Creative thinking, tenacity and dedication required to deliver improvement in asset performance and operational productivity
